President Bola Ahmed Tinubu wants the best for Nigerians and is committed to improving the lives and welfare of the citizens, George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) said on Wednesday.
Akume spoke while inaugurating the Geo-Spatial Centre of the National Emergency Agency (NEMA) in Abuja.
NEMA geo-spatial centre formerly called Geographic Information System (GIS), is a technology that is used in all phases of disaster management such as preparedness, mitigation, response, recovery, and rehabilitation.
“The President, His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu means well for this country and is committed to improving on the lives and welfare of the citizens.
“Let me assure you of the continued support of the Federal Government to re-invigorate the public service to be more productive and responsive to the yearnings of the people and move the country forward”
Akume said: The centre would boost disaster forecasting, data mapping, and information management system.
He said: “The world is presently confronted by increasingly global upsurge in magnitude and complexity of various disasters that have affected many countries as evidenced in draughts, floods, desertification, farmine, and even communal crisis arising from competition over land use and ownership”, he said.
The Geo-Spatial Centre of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) would help in processing data information gathering, research, and forecasting for disaster management.
