Russia has continued to heavily bombard Ukraine cities of Kyiv and Brovary including health facilities amid possible peace talks that eventually failed today.
Kyiv officials say there is heavy fighting in many directions around the Ukrainian capital and other cities.
The Kyiv regional administration highlighted fresh fighting in settlements around Brovary, which is across the Dnieper River, east from the capital.
While hopes of the ceasefire were in view, he said that areas to the north remained among the most dangerous, including the suburbs of Bucha, Irpin and Hostomel, as well as the district of Vyshorod further north from the capital.
A Russian airstrike has devastated a maternity hospital in the beleaguered port of Mariupol killing about 3 persons and wounding at least 17 people.
Ukrainian officials said the fresh attack triggered international condemnation from Washington, London, and the Vatican, among others.
9News Nigeria gathers that Ukraine’s foreign minister has disclosed that talks between the top diplomats of Moscow and Kyiv produced no breakthrough on ending the war in Ukraine following Russia’s invasion.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said he attended the meeting Thursday with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Turkey to discuss humanitarian corridors and a cease-fire.
Kuleba said there are “other decision-makers” in Russia who need to be consulted, adding that he agreed with Lavrov to continue to seek a solution to humanitarian issues caused by the war.
He said Moscow is not ready to offer a cease-fire. He said: “They seek Ukraine’s surrender. This is not going to happen.”
Kuleba said “the last thing” he wanted was to kill hope for Ukrainians seeking safe passage out of cities besieged by Russian bombardments and attacks.
