The people of the Northern Senatorial District of Ondo State have called on the new Governor of the State, H.E. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa to consider the vacuum created by the death of the former Governor of the State and compensate the Zone with the position of Deputy Governor as His Excellency continues to scout for his deputy.
According to the Secretary of the Coastal Liberation Movement, CLM, Dr. Shola Agboola, for Fairness, Equity and Justice to reign in Ondo State, the Northern Senatorial District of the State should produce His Excellency, Governor Ayedatiwa’s Deputy having been given the nod to scout for and pick his own Deputy Governor.
He opined that His Excellency, Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa should consider the following facts to ensure lasting peace and progress in the State as 2024 Governorship election was around the corner: “First, since the pendulum of Governorship has now swung to the South and Speaker of the State House of Assembly remains at the Central, it will be most appropriate to settle for a female Deputy from the Northern Senatorial District” Agboola posited.
“Secondly, It is obvious that the hierarchical consideration of the first three positions in the State should not elude the North especially when Akoko land in the Northern Senatorial District would have become adequately compensated for the loss of Late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu and thirdly, Dr. Agboola opined that it is necessary to ensure Gender equality and Youth participation in the governance of the state, and on which note “we from the Coastal Liberation Movement and Yoruba Political Summit Group are hereby recommending HON. ALABI IDOWU OLAYINKA, former Commissioner for Women Affairs in this State noting that
her activities and acceptability at the grassroots in the Northern Senatorial District speak volume and should not be underestimated”. He said they were confident that considering Hon.(Mrs) Alabi Idowu Olayinka for the Deputy Governorship slot would engender lasting peace as preparations for the 2024 Governorship election was about to begin.
In the same vein, the National Convener of the Nigeria Political Summit, Amb, Hon. Dr. Adewale Adeogun has also lent his support for the candidature of Hon. Alabi Idowu Olayinka who he claimed is a grassroots politician, mobiliser and influencer. He said picking Hon. Alabi Olayinka would not only ensure gender balance, but her inclusion in Aiyedatiwa’s administration will make the Party’s victory at the next Governorship election a mere walk over and a huge success.
Also speaking on Hon. Alabi Idowu Olayinka, the Chairman of the Organising Committee of the Nigeria Political Summit and the DG/National Convener of Rontex For BAT in Nigeria and diaspora, Chief Dr. Ronke Carew said the former Honourable Commissioner is reliable, responsible, trustworthy and selfless. She confirmed that she would be an added advantage to the new Governor in his quest to deliver good governance to the people of the State.
In the same manner, the South West Coordinator of the Nigeria Political Summit, Dr. Samson Bilesanmi called on the new Governor of Ondo State to consider the great qualities possessed by the former Commissioner and appoint her as his Deputy. He said this would be a big plus for His Excellency, the Governor in his future political endeavours as Honourable Alabi Idowu Olayinka is a trusted and loyal party member.
In their joint assessment and recommendation of Honourable Idowu Olayinka, in a joint release this morning in Akure, the six States Coordinators of the South West of the Nigeria Political Summit said no other person other than Hon. Olayinka could be best for that job at the moment. They therefore implored His Excellency, the Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa to consider, as a matter of political exigency, the choice of Hon. Alabi Idowu Olayinka as his Deputy Governor. This they said would enhance the rate of acceptability of the new administration by the good people of the State, while at the same time, provide succour to the people of the Northern Senatorial District of the State for the loss of their son, the former Governor.
