Honorable Bamidele Salam, the member representing Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore , Ejigbo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives has applauded President Mohammadu Buhari and the Minister of Works, Babatunde Raji Fashola for their speedy consideration and approval of emergency repairs on Akoda-Ededimeji-Oke Gada-Ofatedo Road.

Hon. Salam gave the commendation in a statement on Monday appreciating the Federal Government for the responsive gesture following the lawmaker’s motion to that effect on the floor of the House of Representatives on 20th November, 2019.

The lawmaker had during the motion demanding urgent action by federal government and especially federal ministry of works, highlighted the economic importance of the road network to the people of Ede and other strategic communities in the federal constituency.

According to Hon. Salam, the call for repair of the deplorable road became imperative as it is a strategic road connecting several towns and villages in the Federal Constituency as well as provide seamless access to important institutions such the Federal Polytechnic, Ede, Ilori College of Education, Ede; Redeemers University, Ede, NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede; Adeleke University, Ede; Engineering Construction Regiment (ECR) Army Barack, Ede; the popular Oje Market, Ede and Ede Water Works that provides over 70% water needs of the people of Osun State.

While appreciating the federal government for heeding his pleas and the immediate commencement of emergency repairs on the road, Hon Bamidele Salam however appealed to the federal government to consider complete reconstruction and dualization of the road owing to its economic importance to benefitting communities in the Federal Constituency.

In his words:
“I want to place on record my appreciation to President Muhammadu Buhari and Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola for swinging into action on the all-important road within a short time it was brought to their attention.

“It is equally important to enjoin the government to include the road in the 2021 appropriation to make for its reconstruction and dualization so as to accommodate the high traffic volume usually recorded on it. This is my passionate appeal and this will go a long way in alleviating the plight of the people using the road”.

According to the Lawmaker who is also a member of the House Committee on Works, “this will not only ensure free flow of traffic on the road but also add other far reaching economic values to the state as difficulties often encountered in the movement of goods and other services in the area would be permanently solved”
