It is very sad to watch Nigerian billionaires who ostensibly amassed their wealth through stealing of public funds and other illicit means throw the monies away through witless extravagant lifestyle.
What is most heart breaking is the fact that these heartless shylocks squander these monies in foreign countries with reckless abandon. They do not consider it worthwhile to at least invest those monies in their states of origin or other places within Nigeria, as that would create employment and in turn favour some fellow citizens. They could also help to empower many of their relatives and people around them, and thereby lift them out of the stench poverty that’s obviously ravaging majority of the Nigerian citizens.
They could also embark on infrastructural projects, thereby helping in the development of the country, since the money in their coffers are humongous and run into billions of Naira.
I read on 9News Nigeria social media platform about one of them and his actions overseas; and I’ve just decided to leave it for you our readers to judge.
Some Rich Nigerians And Their Extravagance Overseas
By Aruoma Stanley Osasumwen
Amouna and Hauwa, two daughters of Borno-born billionaire, Alhaji Mohammed Indimi graduated from the University of Lynn, in Florida.
Their joyous billionaire father donated a $14 million (N4.2 billion) complex named after him “Mohammed Indimi International Business Center” to Lynn University as part of the activities of the University Commencement Day.
Alhaji Mohammed Indimi made his billions in Nigeria from oil wells his military dictator in-law, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida gave him on a platter of gold.
He is the Chairman, CEO of Oriental Oil and Gas and he is reported to be the tenth richest billionaire in Nigeria.
The Borno-born billionaire has never donated a plastic chair to the University of Maiduguri or any University in Nigeria, but donated a whopping $14 million complex to a US University, which by the way does not even need such gesture from him.
Hundreds and thousands of internally displaced persons in Borno state are suffering and homeless, yet our monies are being flaunted overseas and used to further develop already developed societies.
Which way Nigeria?
