Sultana Nazif, the daughter in-law of Emir of Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanuni 11, said she will be sticking to her maiden name.
The 24-year-old daughter of Senator Suleiman Nazif from Bauchi and Emir Sanusi’s son, Ashraf Adam, got married in August 2024.
Sultana, who disclosed this in a question and answer session with her followers on Wednesday night February 19, 2025, said she doesn’t believe in women replacing their father’s name after marriage.
The Sultana expressed her intention to retain her maiden name.
She also acknowledged her belief that women should not feel compelled to abandon their father’s name upon entry into marriage.
