A graduate of English Language from Ebonyi State University, Rex Nwome has denied accusing Professor Enyi U. Amechi of vowing to keep failing late EBSU Student identified as Favour Ugwuka.
9News Nigeria had reported that the mother of the deceased accused Prof. Enyi of failing his daughter repeatedly leading her to commit suicide.
Speaking with 9News Nigeria on Monday, Mr Nwome said his “attention has been drawn to the news report saying that he narrated the cause of the death of one Favour Ugwuka who was alleged to have committed suîcïde on May 22nd”.
Mr Nwome said he never issued any statement and
described Professor Enyi as a very tenacious and disciplined lecturer with so much knowledge to impact on his student.”
According to him, “I, Rex Nwome here by notifying the general public that I had never posted such incident on any social media platform or write any statement to any newspaper, I am surprised where such statement is coming from and got escalated, know it and have it that it is quite fallacy and mendacious on MY OWN REX NWOME, I’M NOT AWARE OF ANYTHING, disregard any comments or post that may have come up anywhere before now concerning my own name.”
“That I know nothing about what led to the demise of the said late Ms Favour Ugwuka.”
“That it has been long I left the University environment and I’m not in anyway connected to the late Favour for long time now. “
“That Professor Enyi U. Amechi is my good lecturer and forever, I do almost extremely well in most of the courses he taught us during my time at Ebonyi State University, I can boldly say that Professor Enyi is the pillar of the Department of English and Literary, I never had any misunderstanding with my own able lecturer.”
“Please I here by call on the Nigerian security operatives, the Nigerian Union of Journalist, and the Ebonyi State University community to vividly investigate on what that led to demise of her student.”
“I only know Professor Enyi as a very tenacious and disciplined lecturer with so much knowledge to impact on his student.”
“Though, I recieve with deep sense of sympathy over the death of Ms Favour Ugwuka, it was a very big shock to all the students in the Department of English and Literary Studies 2022 set and to the whole Ebonyi State University community hearing her demise which is yet to be cleared to netizens of what led to her death. I dearly condole the family of the deceased.”
