Nigerian students, researchers, and early-career innovators will get a shot at the global stage as Ibadan hosts Falling Walls Lab 2026.
The event will hold on Friday June 5, 2026, by 3PM prompt, at the Mini Hall, Subomi Balogun Conference Centre, University of Ibadan.
Winners from the Ibadan competition will represent Nigeria at the Falling Walls Lab Global Finale in Berlin, Germany, competing against champions from labs worldwide and networking with leading scientists, policymakers, and industry experts.
The event is organised by the Falling Walls Foundation with DAAD, the German Consulate General, and Beiersdorf.
It challenges participants to break down “walls” in science and society through three-minute pitches on ideas in tech, health, education, sustainability, and entrepreneurship.
Beyond the competition, organisers say the Ibadan edition is built as a learning and networking hub.
The lineup includes interactive sessions, cultural showcases, dance, and music, designed to make innovation accessible and engaging.
According to the organisers, “the event will bring together bright minds passionate about solving problems and contributing meaningfully to society. It is an opportunity to experience creativity and cutting-edge research firsthand.”
The programme is open to all disciplines. Students, researchers, entrepreneurs, and professionals with transformative ideas are urged to attend and connect with like-minded innovators.
Falling Walls Lab has become a launchpad for emerging innovators globally, offering mentorship, exposure, and access to international research networks.
Organisers reaffirmed their commitment to making the Ibadan showcase impactful and called on the university community and the public to join the afternoon dedicated to ideas that could shape Nigeria’s future.
