Plateau State Governor Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang has reiterated his commitment to return the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) to their homes to resumes their agricultural activities during the raining season.

Mutfwang disclosed this when the officials of Chris Oyakhilome Foundation paid a courtesy visit to the governor before proceeding to offer aid to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) across Barkin-Ladi, Mangu and Bokkos, and other Local Government Areas of the State.

The governor, who commended the Foundation for the assistance, also stated that the intervention was inline with Biblical injunction that “Those who are strong should help those who are weak”, and highlighted that for the people to return home, they would need enduring security, building materials and other support to start life afresh.

He said: “It is a pleasure to receive you, we are happy that you are concern about us, it means so much to us. God directed you to hear our Macedonian cry, this will further strengthen the unity among us. A great area of need is how to move the people from the camp back to their homes. Possibly, before the rains set in we will be able to move If not all, substantial number.

“That means we will have to provide security, build some of the homes, and give them some economic empowerment so that they can settle back home.

“Our people are not used to begging, they feel more fulfilled working with their hands, and many of them are passing through mental torture having to stay in the IDP camps. I am determined to facilitate their return to their ancestral homes. This is the kind of collaboration we seek to build in the coming days”

Earlier the leader of the delegation Pastor Emmanuel Arinze, explained that they were in the State to provide hope and intervene in humanitarian situation as they have done in many other places.

He commended Governor Mutfwang efforts in governance saying “We are inspired by your activities since you assumed office.

“We are here to provide further support to those who were affected. We will join forces with you in some of your activities to provide support to the people”.
