From Princely Onyenwe, Abuja
The recent graduation of the First Son of the Ex-Governor of Imo state and a Fmr ranking officer of the Federal House of Representatives, His Excellency Emeka Ihedioha is quite commendable.
His graduation from a Foreign University is indeed a Wake-Up Call against the decline in Nigeria’s Education Sector.
On the other side of the story experts in the Academic circle have made it thought provoking against the odd manifestations in the NIGERIAN Education sector.
However reactions have continued to dominate the media space for such a wonderful feat by a great son of Imo state who left NIGERIA to study abroad.
Many have credited his possible reason for studying abroad to lack of quality education in Nigeria.
Majority have also blamed the Ministers of Education and the managers of the Education sector as the root causes of the decline recorded in the Education sector. The dangers of long strike action is affecting the society already where idle minds are involved in crimes and
This decline has made the rich to send their wards and children abroad to study and make the best out of life while the children of the poor suffer with the incessant strike action that has drowned Nigerian Universities and Polytechnics.
This is quite regrettable in a country that has enormous natural resources and human capital, needed capacity and financial muzzle to better the Education sector.
All hands are pointing on bad leadership, greed of the political class and lack of vision to improve the country.
A saying that where there is no vision my people perish is applicable to the anomalous uprising in the Nigerian polity which has adversely affected virtually every sector of leadership.
Education sector is seriously affected and those that do not have money to further and upgrade their Educational status are perishing in Nigeria.
One can imagine the sudden high cost of Education in Nigeria and its adverse effects to the country.
A call in the right direction is for government to do everything possible to call of strike and make Education affordable in Nigeria. With this the people will enjoy the Education system and foreigners will patronize us in this regards just as NIGERIANs shuttle on daily basis to aquire good Education overseas.
Recall that Emaka Ihedioha’s first son Chukwuemeka Ihedioha Jnr, recently graduated from the University of WarWick in Coventry, England with excellent grades.
Same thing applicable to Nyeso Wike of Rivers state, whose Son graduated last week and many other NIGERIANs studying in foreign Universities too numerous to mention.
Interview with students across Nigerian Universities and Polytechnics showcased the sorry situation the insensitive of government has positioned Nigerian citadels of learning and her students because of continous strike actions which according to them is getting to five months.
Nigerian students however frowned at this Development while congratulating Ihedioha Jnr for making them proud in far away WarWick University in Coventry, England.
It is unfortunate therefore that the great Nigerian Students are at home wasting time, and prolonging future and destiny because of Strike, Poor Education, Wicked Politicians and Frustrating Government, NIGERIANs lament.
Effects of such decline is in many ways affecting the society where students are involving in crimes and criminalities because of long stay at home, unemployment and redundancy.
