Residents of Orere Abosan Community in Igbogbo-Ikorodu, Lagos State, have appealed to the Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company, IKEDC, to replace the faulty transformer in the area.
The General Secretary of Orere Abosan Community Development Association, CDA, made the appeal in an interview with reporters on Tuesday.
According to him, the almost two-decade-old transformer experiences frequent breakdowns, leaving residents in darkness for weeks.
“This situation has caused suffering, affected businesses, jeopardised security and even led to loss of lives. “This transformer has been taken away for repairs several times, but the breakdowns have continued.”
Adebiyi, while appealling to IKEDC to replace the faulty transformer, said that the community’s growth and development depended on stable power supply.
“We humbly request that IKEDC replaces the transformer to save our souls in Orere Abosan Community.
“Many of our businesses have collapsed because of these. I run a bakery business and I have spent so much in buying both diesel and petrol, which has not allowed the business to thrive.
“This does not affect me alone, imagine people with frozen foods business, they can’t run such business with a generator.”
