Senator Seriake Dickson, the National leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has declared that he does not belong to either the Obedient Movement or the Kwankwasiyya political movement, insisting that his political identity and loyalty are firmly with the NDC.
Dickson made the declaration while speaking during an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time, where he addressed the relationship between the NDC and the political support groups associated with the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and his running mate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, ahead of 2027 general election.
According to Dickson, while the Obedient and Kwankwasiyya movements have their separate identities and are free to operate independently, their principals are now the presidential candidate and running mate of the NDC.
“I:m not a member of Kwankwasiyya. I’m not a member of Obedient. I am NDC”, Dickson declared.
The former Bayelsa State governor said the NDC had already settled its internal issues by deciding on its candidates and was now shifting its attention towards the larger battle of winning the 2027 presidential election.
He stressed that the party had no reason to engage in internal conflicts, urging supporters of Peter Obi, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and other political blocs within the emerging coalition to focus on taking their campaign and message to Nigerians.
Dickson further noted that his political relationship with Obi and Kwankwaso was not new, explaining that they had worked together and maintained political relationships over the years despite sometimes belonging to a different political camps.
According to him, the overriding objective of the partnership is to build a united political force capable of securing victory in the next general election.
“We have a partnership that is committed to winning the next elections. That is the most important thing”, he said.
