I’m ready for Eagles job, Amunike declares

Former Super Eagles player, Emmanuel Amunike, has expressed his readiness to take charge of the team admist the uncertainties surrounding the future of the head coach Jose Peseiro, who contract ended after the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

There have been calls from local coach to replace Peseiro, and Amunike, who previously served as an assistant coach to Austine Egvuaveon in the Super Eagles, and former Manager Tanzania national football team, said he would embrace such an opportunity.

Peseiro, a Portuguese who won silver medal at the just concluded African football fiesta AFCON in Cote d’Ivoire is uncertain about contract renewal following the expiration at the end of the Africa Cup of Nations.

According to source who claimed anonimity said “the renewal of his contract is uncertain as the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), the nation’s football umpire is already shopping for a new replacement, but Peseiro hasn’t made a decision yet”.

Amunike who won Gold medal at the Summer Olympic in Atlanta 1996 said:

“I am a Nigerian, all my life I have served Nigeria as a player. If Nigeria now find me fit to add to the team, of course, it is a welcome development”

“But for now it is not necessary to talk about this issue”.
