Imo All Progressives Congress APC State Constituency Primaries is still In Progress, the comprehensive list of Candidates is yet to reach to our news desk.
However the process is reported to be hitch free from various Local Government Areas in the state while party delegates are happily casting their statutory franchise to their preferred candidates, 9News Nigeria gathered.
In line with the revised Schedule of the conduct of primaries ahead the forthcoming 2023 general election, the Imo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has commenced the conduct of its house of assembly primaries across the 27 local government areas (LGAs) in the state.
The exercise started after an intensive interactive meeting between his Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma and all aspirants under the platform of our party, at the Expanded Executive Chambers, government house.
During the meeting, the governor used the opportunity to admonish aspirants to conduct themselves with decorum and exhibit spirit of sportsmanship in pursuit of their political ambition.
He reiterated the need for leaders and stakeholders, as well as aspirants to appreciate and respect local sentiments that are capable of undermining the electoral fortune of the party during the general election, particularly the issues of zoning and balancing of political power.
However, while some state assembly aspirants voluntarily opted to withdraw from the race to promote cohesion, unity and stability within the party, others were advised to go to the field for the exercise proper.
Meanwhile, primary election which has commenced at various designated centres across the state has the 5-man LGA adhoc delegates elected at the delegate congress as the electoral college.
While the people are confident that the process will be peaceful, transparent, free, fair and credible, all aspirants, stakeholders and party faithful are enjoined to abide by the stipulated rules guiding the conduct of the exercise.
