Imo deputy governor, Professor Placid Chike Njoku has assured Nekede community through Nekede Federated Union NFU of government resolve to speed up the construction of Nekede/Poly/Ihiagwa and that of Nekede Old road inline with the governor’s promise to put smile in the faces of Imo people.
This statement was made at a courtesy visit by Nekede federated union NFU led by its national vice chairman Nze Sir Obinna Aharanwa.
In his speech, Nze Aharanwa had recalled the close relationship Nekede has with Imo government and hinted that the people are desirous of having a good road in their area.
He however thanked the government on their speedy intervention on Nekede Miri nkwoahia bridge located at number 12 bus stop and commended the eloquent defense of matters concerning the generality of Nekede people.
His excellency Prof Placid, promised a speedy transmission of their message to the governor. He further stated that Nekede has remained a strategic town that made Owerri what it is today by occupying one major part of Imo state capital a d expressed government interest in developing the area.
He however warned against vandalization of government establishments and unapproved mining of sand in the area.
He therefore added that even the Nekede Zoo will be totally redeveloped hence it will serve as a major source of attraction in Imo state and the south east after its completion.
While handing over a detailed copy of the description of the demands of Nekede people that brought about the visit, Nekede roads are very critical that government must do” I will not rest until the work is done,… Dgov concludes.
Recall that Imo state government through H/E Governor Uzodinma has promised to kickstart the construction of these roads at the set of dry season but regretted while till date no serious work is seen on the roads.
