Her Excellency, Bar (Mrs) Chioma Uzodinma has again continued to put smiles on the faces of WIDOWS in Imo state from all the 27 local government areas.
The benevolence of IMO FIRST LADY was powered by her pet project, “GoodHope Flourish Foundation” (GHFF), in liaison with the Ministry of Women Affairs and Vulnerable Groups (MWAVG).
Imo First Lady however urged for concerted efforts against the high level of injustice faced by our widows and their dependents and sundry.
Meanwhile, On the just commemorated International Widow’s Day, the governor’s wife had frowned at the inhumane and obsolete widowhood practices while advocating for their support.
In her words, “targeted intimidation was the situation of a widow, Mrs. Ifeyinwa Okechi whose house was allegedly destroyed by her brother-in-law, and was rendered homeless, consequently. She hails from Ihitte Ukwa, Orsu L.G.A and lived with five children.
The GoodHope Flourish Foundation (GHFF), in liaison with the Ministry of Women Affairs and Vulnerable Groups (MWAVG) has reacted swiftly to save Imo widows.
Her foundation did not waste time to provide mrs IFENYINWA with a conducive accommodation, fully paid with some financial assistance to enable her cater for herself and children, in the meantime.
While speaking with pressmen in Owerri, Her Excellency hinted that a complaint has been properly lodged on the matter which will be thoroughly investigated to unravel the true position and actors in the case.
This gesture is to further reiterate Government’s commitment and determination in ensuring the welfare of women, children, and vulnerable groups in the State.
She futher appreciated everyone who has reached out to Mrs. Okechi and family in one way or another and prayed God to reward and replenish them abundantly.
Bar Chioma Uzodinma had earlier Expressed happiness on the efforts of the clan/community leadership for throwing their weight into the matter.
She however instructed the department of Woman Affairs/Widowhood, MWAVG, to follow up on the issue to a logical conclusion.
This is quite Commendable while co- WIDOWS who have heard about this good gesture of her Excellency are Hopeful to be rescued from their pity conditions through GoodHope Flourish Foundation (GHFF).
