IMO NAWOJ: BARR VIVIAN OTTI RETURNED ELECTED AS CHAIRMAN WITH 64 VOTES AGAINST 12 VOTES CAST FOR DOROTHY NNAJI

The Nigeria association of women Journalists NAWOJ Imo state chapter had concluded their election on saturday may 22nd 2021 at the NUJ center located along Owerri Portharcourt road Imo state NIGERIA and its former Chairman Barr VIVIAN OTTI was returned elected having the highest vote count against her rival Mrs Dorathy NNAJI.

9News Nigeria reports that it was a keen contest between the duo from the information chapel and that of the IBC chapel.

In a congratulatory messages sent to the winner chairman, the NUJ Caretaker leadership confirmed that VIVIAN OTTI was the authentic winner of the 2021 NAWOJ ELECTION Imo state chapter.

The message stated that history was made as the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, Imo State chapter reelected Barr. Vivian Ottih as the chairman for the second time.

The election which took place at Imo NUJ Secretariat along Portharcourt Road Owerri, Imo State Capital had Barr.Vivian Ottih defeat her closet challenger, Dorathy Nnaji with 64 votes, while, Dorathy Nnaji polled 12 votes.

This is even against all odds as sources revealed that the Commissioner for information and strategy, Mr Declan Emelumba who has severally been accused of causing problem in the parent union, allegedly attempted to impose his prefered candidate on the body but the members opposed him and went ahead to massively vote their prefered candidate.

The returning officer of the election when called has confirmed the election as free and fair.

Report has it that the controversy bedevilling the union’s leadership cannot jeopardize the interest of its members and as such cannot justify the report which pronounced Mrs Dorathy NNAJI winner.

The opposing report by Ifeanyi Nwanguma cliamed thus:

That NAWOJ Election: Nnaji Floors Ottih and scored 87 votes.

That Mrs.Dorothy Nnaji of the Information Chapel has floored her close Contestant Mrs. Vivian Ottih of IBC chapel with 87 be votes against 1 votes in the just concluded Nigeria Association Of Women Journalists Election.

That the returning officer, Comrade Helen Udofia who is the National Secretary of NAWOJ while announcing the results after the election held at the New NUJ press centre, commended Imo NAWOJ members for conducting themselves peacefully during and after the election, pointing out that the election has proved the position and choice of Imo Women Journalists.

That comrade Udofia also annouced Mrs Vivian Iwu as Vice Chairman, Comrade Chika Ewurum as the Secretary and Gloria Allison as Financial Secretary.

That while presenting ceritificates of return to the four new elected executives of Imo NAWOJ, Comrade Udofia charged the new executive of Imo NAWOJ to put the interest of women Journalists first, adding that Imo NAWOJ must move forward.

That eleven out of the sixteen chapels of Imo NUJ took part in the Imo NAWOJ Election conducted by the National Secretary, Mrs Helen Udofia, Vice President, Zone D, Comrade Chinwe Jemila.

That the election was witnessed by NUJ National Trustees, Sir Innocent Igwe, Imo NUJ former Chairmen, Sir Fidel Onyeneke, Comrade Francis Egbounogwu and the present Chairman of Imo NUJ, Comrade Chris Akaraonye. The report hinted.

On the contrary, when called upon, the winner chairman of Imo NAWOJ, VIVIAN OTTI expressed gratitude to her supporters who saw her fit at this 3R policy government to lead the Union.

In her words, “I want to use this medium to thank in a SPECIAL way the Executive governor of IMO STATE, His Excellency , Dist. Senator Hope UZODINMA, my brother for giving us a level playing ground to conduct our Union election peacefully”

“I promise to use my office to work for the development of our dear state and most importantly support the 3R mantra of my brother Dist. Senator UZODINMA led government in achieving the best of result in his administration”

“You are a brother for life, I respect you BROTHERLY.To All Orlu stakeholders and leaders, ndi Eze, I will forever remain grateful to you all for supporting and encouraging me”

To ORLU ZURUMEE,
my huge fans on this space, may God crown you too with success”

Also, “Great NAWOJIANS, I am proud of all of you, and will forever remain indebted to you all for the show of Love.The progress and growth of our great Association is a collective assignment. NAWOJ IS OUR IDENTITY, NAWOJ IS OUR PRIDE, LET’S WORK TOGETHER TO MOVE NAWOJ FORWARD” Vivian OTTI posited.
