The Imo State Newspaper Publishers Association has set up a three-man electoral committee peddled with the responsibility to conduct elections within the stipulated time frame in line with the INPA constitution.
This Inauguration was done at the NUJ secretariat Owerri over the weekend where the outgoing Chairman charged the committee to the needful as enshrined in the constitution.
The publisher of Nigeria Moment newspaper, Dr George Nkwoji is the chairman of the committee while the publisher of National Newsbreak, Pastor Gele Agbai is the secretary and Mr ANAYO Okiro as a member.
While the Inauguration was on, Ekpe said he looks forward to a new Executive that would propel the association to greater heights and conduct free, fair and credible polls for the association.
However, 9News Nigeria reports that the Imo newspaper publishers group was founded in 2011 by late Nze Joe Anyama, pioneer publisher of the popular Announcer express newspaper and the first Chairman of INPA.
Then I was the Assistant Editor of Imo Community newspaper, I knew when Chief Bright Chimezie NJOKU, the publisher of Horn Newspaper took over from Hon. Henry Ekpe.
“Later on the leadership of INPA switched on to Chief Lambert Ojukwu, publisher, NIGERIA Newspoint Newspaper.
Henry Ekpe further listed some of his achievements to include ensuring unity, review of the association’s constitution and Improving the image of the group.
In addition, the constitution of the association provides for a three-year tenure for its Executives and members have been following the rules.
The chairman of the committee, Dr George Nkwoji pledged on behalf of the members to conduct a credible election pending when the election timetable will be published.
