By Emma Nnadozie OWERRI — The Chairman of the Imo State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Sir Nnamdi Anyaehie has pledged to re-unite members for the progress and development of the party in the state and at the national level.
Speaking at the inauguration of the party’s new exco at the PDP secretariat on Okigwe Road,Owerri, the Imo State capital on Monday, Anyaehie said the immediate task of the new exco is to unite all the aggrieved members of the party in the state to ensure that “PDP wins the Imo governorship and other elections in the state in 2019.”
He urged all PDP members in the state to eschew acrimony and embrace the new exco “so that with your collective support, we can build the PDP into a formidable force and wrest power from the All Progressives Congress, APC, led government in Imo state which has brought untold hardship to the people of the state.”
The Chairman who expressed confidence that the crisis rocking the party at the national level would be resolved to the satisfaction of all feuding parties so that the PDP could become much stronger, noted that the task ahead though herculean, would be surmounted through the collective engagement of all members.
Commending PDP members in the state for their steadfastness despite intimidation and other forms of oppression from the APC led Government in the State; the Chairman particularly commended Senator Hope Uzodimma for his continued material and financial support for the survival of the PDP in the state.
It would be recalled that the Imo State Chapter of the PDP had conducted its Ward, Local Government Areas and State Congresses before the botched May 21, 2016 National convention of the party in Port-Harcourt, Rivers State.
