From Princely Onyenwe, Abuja

Following the process of screening and confirmation of appointments made by Imo state government, speaker Kennedy Ibeh has told the new appiontees to stand firm to justify the confidence Reposed in them by governor Uzodinma.

The Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly, (IMHA) Rt Hon Barr Kennedy Chidozie Ibeh made this statement wednesday when he urged the newly appointed Commissioners and 27 Sole Administrators of the 27 Local Government Areas in the state, to ensure they live up to expectations in their new assignments.

The Speaker made the charge in his office while interacting with the appointees shortly after the House screened and confirmed them during plenary on Wednesday.

The Rt. Hon Speaker who congratulated them for being found worthy of appointment by His Excellency, Governor Hope Uzodimma, said the only way to show appreciation is for them to be good ambassadors of the 3-R government, which according to him, will uplift their various local governments.

He said that the administration of Governor Hope Uzodimma and Imo State House of Assembly have abolished the old practice where some unparliamentary expectation is made of the nominees by the House members before they are confirmed.

Responding on behalf of the Commissioners, Barr Jerry Egemba, who expressed surprise at the quality and character of Members of the Imo State House of Assembly under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Kennedy Ibeh, said that all that he needed to scale through the confirmation is the quality presentation of his Resume, and his ability to convince them that he will deliver on his appointment.

He said, ” I have never seen it like this before. I was asked to come with my documents and I came. That is what you needed to see. For me this portends hope for Imo State. I have worked with the Rt Hon Speaker before, and what I saw today confirms my thoughts”, he concluded.

Also, the Sole administrator of Oru West and former ALGON Chairman, Hon. Willie Okolieogwo, who spoke for the Sole Administrators, thanked the Speaker, Members of the House of Assembly and Governor Hope Uzodimma for appointing them. He noted that what they saw during screening and confirmation was remarkably different from what it used to be.

According to him, “we saw a House that is keen at doing the right thing. There is nothing like trying to extort anybody”.

The Sole Administrator promised that for the kind gesture shown them by the House members, they will endeavour to work in synergy with their various House Members.

Hon. Okolieogwo expressed confidence in the 3-R government of Governor Hope Uzodinma to take Imo to enviable height.
