IMO State Government has released the administrative portal for the management of transport vehicles in Imo state.

This directive came as a Shared Prosperity policy of His Excellency the Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma in his continued effort to sanitize and improve on existing systems in the state for the safety and economic advantage of Imolites / residents.

Our correspondent reports that in a bid to curb crimes and improve on statistical data on commercial transportation within the state, the Imo State government has launched a vehicle registration/ verification portal which is publicly accessible at https://imocitytransport.com/verify

This reform however seeks to tackle various areas of concern vis-a-vis distress, security and others. All commercial operators within the State, inclusive of haulage; trucks; lorries and tankers, will all be captured and enrolled into the database and an identification number issued – clearly printed on the vehicle.

The admin stated that all that is required to verify any commuter is the identification number in this format “Im00363A” and the particulars of the vehicle are displayed including the owner’s details and the driver’s details.

This will help in times of distress, it would serve as a lead for the security agency to wade in; should a passenger disembark and probably forgot an item, the driver’s contact can be pulled for communication.

This application of technology in transportation is one step too many in the right direction towards redefining the system within the state. It would create a hard time for the perpetration of crime with commercial vehicles.

The admin also hinted that the 3R government is leveraging on the advantages of statistical figures in decision making by creating this database of all commercial vehicle owners and drivers for greater purposes of social benefits decisions.
