IMO: At a Political gathering in Owerri Imo state Nigeria, Governor Hope Uzodinma has told the people of the state that Imo must regain its pride of place in the country. He also added that his government will make Imo state safe again and the environment peaceful.
The Governor stated this at a gathering of All Progressives Congress APC party stakeholders held today Saturday August 12, 2023 at Landmark Event Center, beside Protea Hotels, New Owerri.
In his opening speech, Uzodinma told Imolites that his administration is gradually bringing back light in the state which is an affirmative test that Imo is safe for businesses once more, 9News Nigeria reports.
He added that those in the hospitality industry can be able to testify the fact through high increase in patronage and traffic at respective hotels and apartments. Uzodinma however frowned at those politicians who created the state of insecurity in Imo while assuring Ndi Imo of his continuous fight to stamp down criminality and insecurity to the lowest minimum.
Uzodinma has told his Governorship opponents to go ahead with their campaigns and allow the electorates to vote their choice at the upcoming gubernatorial election.
He pointed out that those who created the state of insecurity in Imo are going about telling Imolites that they will like to make the state safe again, which invariably predates the fact that such personalities are indirectly holding the safety of the state in their hands and have targetted to release it back to the people when they become Governor. What an implication of action!
He added that the oppositions are going about freely and campaigning and still be saying that the state is not safe. The governor noted that such people de-marketing the state with such politically contrived state of insecurity should be cautioned and stop destroying Imo state forthwith.
Uzodinma hinted that the only regret he has apart from those who lost their lives is that the government is compelled into spending huge amount of money to manage security. These are monies that would be channeled into building of more Schools, hospitals, increase workers fare, create works for our people, the teeming Youths, young men and women roaming the streets.
While stating that the industrial policy of late Sam Mbakwe has not be remapped, Uzodinma hinted that the Imo economic agenda has not been discussed and implemented. The prosperity program of the 3R government is now going through low traffic because of funding gaps here and there. And yet a man who thinks he has a vision of becoming the governor should have asked what it takes to be a governor before joining the race of Governorship.
He finally stated that as much as the memories of those who were killed out of insecurity in Imo state resonates that there is nothing to fear anymore.
He said that those causing insecurity in Imo state have gone to the fringes and his government has also move down to the fringes. He assured that there will be a free and fair election in Imo state.
Uzodinma have urged Imo people not be driven by fear of sit-at-thome and insecurity but to go about their normal businesses and be encouraged that his government is not respecting sentiments anymore. I must make Imo state safe, the governor maintained.
“We have successfully checkmated them, and are now witnesses to the fact that security situation in Imo state, the indiscriminate burning of houses, destruction of state asses and shooting and attack of security officer are gradually coming to a hurt. God has exposed most of the people behind the killings in Imo state and my government will follow it up to a logical conclusion.
“There is no how i can be killing or attacking my people of party followership. He sighted the recent Hon Jerry Alagbaso’s House attack few weeks he joined All Progressives Congress and called on Imolites to understand the gimmicks and confusion the enemies are planting against the state.
The meeting featured who is who in the leading All Progressives Congress APC party among who are political appiontees, past and serving state government officers, party Leadership, Youth and women groups. Traditional Rulers, clergy and the gentlemen of the press were all in attendance.
