Today dated June 23 2021 is declared International Widows Day with its 2021.

The theme for this year’s International Widow Day is “Invisible Women, Invisible Problems”.

9News Nigeria human rights advocate crew, Princely Onyenwe reports that June 23, 2021 is the world international widows day as declared by the United Nations proclamation.

The day is a day to show love to the widows and women in general to appreciate their love for humanity.

Meanwhile, it is a painful experience losing a partner and this feelings can never be an easy thing for anyone but for a woman the hardships that come along with the loss of their spouse is unimaginable.

Futhermore, June 23 is observed as International Widows Day by the United Nation in a bid to create awareness about the situation of widows across many parts of the world.

According to the United Nation estimate, there are around 258 million widows around the world and nearly one in every 10 widows lives in extreme poverty.

This year celebration will no doubt be affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and a whole lot of Insecurity situations in Nigeria.

This has also added to this problem in many parts as people lose their partners to this deadly virus and undue killings.

The theme for this year’s International Widow Day is “Invisible Women, Invisible Problems”. The theme tends to highlight the fact that for many societies a woman’s identity is attached to her partner and after his death, the problems faced by her are ignored by policymakers who don’t give any special attention to the widowed woman.

International Widow Day History came into recognition and adopted to hold every June 23 which was adopted officially as International Widow Day by the United National General Assembly on December 23, 2010.

But before getting UN’s recognition, the day was already observed since 2005 by the some world care Foundations.

Our human rights advocate crew reports that In india, since 2005, the Loomba Foundation has been in this care given venture.

However, the foundation chose June 23 as the official date as it was on this day in 1954 that Shrimati Pushpa Wati Loomba, mother of the founder, Rajinder Paul Loomba, became a widow. This is very pathetic.

In NIGERIA, this event will hold statewide to address the pressing conditions of NIGERIAN WIDOWS.

Over here in Imo state, governor Uzodinma has rolled out strategy to capture the pressing needs of Imo widows while the event is slated to hold at Freedom square Owerri this morning to show solidarity to imo Government and love to widows.
