
Following the death of General Hossein Salami and other top Commanders in Israel airstrikes, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayotollah Ali Khamenei swiftly appointed new heads of Revolutionary Guard and Armed Forces to replace those killed.
In a separate decrees, Khamenei named Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour as the new Commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, (IRGC), replacing Salami, and Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi to succeed Mohammad Bagheri as Chief of the Armed Forces General Staff Major General Ali Shademani was also appointed as Commander of the Khatam al-Anbia Headquarters.
Through distinct official orders, Khamenei selected Mohammad Pakpour as the new Commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, succeeding Hosseini Salami, while Abdolrahim Mousavi was appointed to take over from Mohammed Bagheri as the new Chief of Armed Forces, General Staff.
“In view of the martyrdom of Lieutenant General Hossein Salami at the hands of ville Zionist regime, and in light of Major General Mohammad Pakpour’s meritorious services and valuable experience, I appoint him as Commander-in-Chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps”, Khamenei said on a post on X.
Iranian officials also that confirmed the Israeli missile strikes which occurred in the early hours of Friday June 13, hit several residential buildings in the capital.
