The Imo State Independent Electoral Commission (ISIEC) has fixed Saturday, November 7, 2026, for the conduct of the state’s Local Government Council elections.
The Commission announced the new date in a statement dated October 5, 2026, and signed by its Chairman, Chief Charles Ejiogu.
According to ISIEC, the decision followed the earlier postponement of the elections, which were initially scheduled for September 26, as well as consultations with the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Imo State chapter.
The Commission said it would soon convene an expanded stakeholders’ meeting, where the amended election timetable and electoral guidelines necessitated by the postponement would be released.
ISIEC further apologised to political parties, chairmanship and councillorship candidates, stakeholders and the general public for the inconvenience caused by the postponement.
