Youths of NIGERIA has call for unity in the country and call the presidency to consider the establishment of youth Commission in Nigeria.
June 12-2021 featured groups of a huge turnout of demonstrators in the Nation’s capital Abuja today as Nigeria celebrates Democracy day.
However, while a Pro-Democracy Day and #BuhariMustGo rally was going, some members of the Emerging Leaders Forum of Nigeria (ELFON) in the company of groups like National youth council, Youth Assembly of Nigeria, National Association of Nigerian Students, National Association of Polytechnic Students, Nigerian Students Parliament, Arewa youth council, etc also rallied support for President Buhari.
The protesting group gathered at the early hours of today from the Gudu Area of Abuja heading towards the central business area with banners and placards calling for a better United Nigeria, a clash was recorded as there was a face to face confrontation between the Pro-Democracy Day group and a group of protesters carrying placards and demanding an end to bad governance in the country, seeking “Buhari Must Go” as part of activities marking the June 12 democracy day along Gudu road.
The protesting group was reported to have occupied a section of the road before the arrival of the over populated Pro-Democracy group numbering over one thousand five hundred members who chased the protesters off the road as passerbys witnessed the drama where protesters scampered for safety with some sustaining injuries. Our correspondent confirmed that the police were on ground to ensure safety of lives and properties.
Speaking to Journalists, the National President of Emerging Leaders Forum of Nigeria (ELFON), who led the Pro-Democracy Day Rally stated that Nigerians must come together to talk about and act things that Unites the country, not such that divides NIGERIA as a people”
“As young progressives and stakeholders in nation building, we will not tolerate any unruly act from hired miscreants coming to demonstrate against our Nation’s Unity, Progress and Development”, Godstime warned.
The ELFON leader expressed their gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari for approving June 12 as Democracy day which he noted has gone a long way to reawaken the our commitment of citizens to a United Nigeria where Equity, Fairplay, Justice must be taken serious for a better Nigeria.
“We urge President Muhammadu Buhari to appoint young Nigerians who are bellow fourty years of age as Ministers of State and also establish a National Commission for Youth Development which will go a long way in addressing unemployment in Nigeria”, He further stated.
Earlier before this report ELFON- Project Unity Nigeria group were sighted heading towards the Unity Fountain in Abuja.
