The office of the Accountant General of the Federation – OAGF headed by Alhaji Ahmed Idris fcna is a threshold to integrate all Ministries, Departments and Agencies of the Federal Government of Nigeria into the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System – IPPIS
In Its concerted effort to bundle all government employees and agencies into this new database system, a three – day nationwide training of Role Players with the view to attain the preset goals and objectives of the scheme and to consolidate on the gains achieved so far is holding in Uyo Akwa Ibom State.
The three-Day training held at Ibom Icon Hotel and Golf Resort, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State from Monday, 30th August 2021 and will last till Wednesday, 1st September 2021.
The training is one of the strategies adopted by the Federal government to always keep the IPPIS role players in tune with the workings of the policy, to enhance their capacity to take full ownership of their respective payrolls and efficiently discharge their responsibilities in the centralized platform and to help consolidate on the Federal government’s resolve to find a permanent solutions to the hitches that may occur in the operations of the IPPIS.
“IPPIS has brought significant level of transparency and efficiency into payroll system and personnel budget which has help the country to fight corruption to a standstill” the Accountant General said.
In his opening speech the Accountant General of the Federation represented by Mr Zubairu Salawu gave the historical background of the scheme (IPPIS), its objectives and the gains achieved so far.
He implored all the participants to pay attention and learn as much as possible so that they will be able to carry out basic task on the system from the comfort of their offices without any recourse to OAGF.
He expressed optimism that at the end of the Three – Day training, the IPPIS Role Players will become effective and efficient to discharge their responsibility in a centralized platform .
“You must see this training as a call to national service. The idea you will get from this training and your application of same becomes your own contribution to. National building “
” The country needs men and women with high level of integrity. You must see yourselves as key components in the complex machinery that is set up to ensure the success of the IPPIS project and other reform initiatives of you the federal government”.
In his welcome address, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Deacon Udom Emmanuel represented by the Commissioner of finance, Dr Linus Nkan welcomed the accountant general of the federation and all the participants to Akwa Ibom State and thanked the OAGF for selecting Akwa Ibom State as a Centre for the South South zone of this very important training programme.
The Governor commended the office of the Accountant General Of the federation for the nationwide training which cut across the six geopolitical zone in Nigeria.
Governor Udom Emmanuel disclosed that his administration from inception in 2015 has keyed into the IPPIS which its application has help in the eliminate payroll fraud, cut wastages, eliminate frauds in pension/gratuity and help the state to operate optimally even with the lean resources.
