The Orji Uzor Kalu (OUK) Foundation has announced a fully sponsored University Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) registration for over 2,000 prospective candidates from Abia North Senatorial District.
Rev. Mike Onyeidu, the Coordinator of the scheme, made this known in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abakaliki on Monday.
He said that the initiative was aimed at easing the financial burden of the prospective candidates in the area.
“The initiative, which cuts across the five local government areas of the district, is aimed at easing the financial constraints that often hinder access to tertiary education for brilliant but indigent students,” Onyeidu said.
He noted that the intervention was part of the foundation’s commitment to promoting educational advancement, human capital development and long-term socio-economic growth in Abia North.
“By covering the full cost of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), UTME registration, the foundation seeks to ensure that no eligible student is denied the opportunity to pursue higher education due to economic hardship.
“The scheme aligns with the founder, Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu’s desire to place education at the centre of sustainable development and to build a knowledgeable, skilled and competitive constituency.
“The sponsored JAMB registration goes beyond examination fees. It is an investment in the future leadership of Abia North and a strategic step toward empowering young people to realise their academic and professional aspirations,” Onyeidu said.
The foundation called on parents, guardians and students across the senatorial district to take advantage of the opportunity, describing it as a rare intervention with the potential to transform lives and communities.
Onyeidu reaffirmed the foundation’s commitment to initiatives that promote access to quality education and national development.
