A Kano State High Court has sentenced Shuaibu Abdulkadir to death by hanging for the murder of 23-year-old, newly married pregnant woman, Rumasa’u Shuaibu.
Justice Farida Dan Baffa of the High Court No 22 delivered the judgment on Friday, ruling that the prosecution proved the charge of culpable homicide beyond reasonable doubt.
During the trial, prosecutors call three witnesses, while Abdulkadir testified in his defence.
According to evidence before the court, Abdulkadir visited the victim at her residence in 2025, where he allegedly killed her after she told him she was carrying his child and not that of her husband.
The court also heated that the victim had demanded N500,000 from Abdulkadir and threatened to reveal their relationship if he failed to pay.
After reviewing the evidence and argument from both sides, Justice Dan Baffa found Abdulkadir guilty and sentenced him to death by hanging.
The conviction brings to a close the high-profile murder case that shocked residents of Kano State.
