Kano State Police has arrested a 25-year-old woman, identified as Maimunatu Idris, for allegedly attacking her boyfriend with a knife an severing his manhood after reportedly discovering that he intended to marry another woman.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the incident occurred on Sunday, July, 2026, at about 12:50 p.m. at Durbar Hotel in Badawa area of Kano State. The hotel management alerted the police after the alleged attack.

Kiyawa said the suspect, who is from Maigatari Local Government Area ofJigawa State, allegedly stabbed her boyfriend with a sharp knife during the confrontation, causing severe injuries, including the severing of his manhood.

Following the report, the Divisional Police Officer of Badawa Division led the team of detectives to the scene, where the suspect was arrested.The knife allegedly used in the attack was recovered as evidence.

The victim was immediately rushed to Abubakar Imam Urology Hospital, where he is currently receiving medical treatment. Police said investigations into the incident are ongoing.

Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, condemned the alleged act of violence and urged members of the public to refrain from taking the law into their own hands, stressing that grievances should be resolved through lawful means.
