Labour, States hold last-minute talks ahead of strike amid minimum wage

The minimum wage, states yet to implement the N70,000 wages for workers are making last-minute moves to ensure the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, does not embark on another strike on Monday December 2, 2024.

The states yet to approve the monthly wage are Cross River, Katsina and Zamfara, after the Imo State Government sanctioned the implementation of the N70,000 wage.

It means 33 states and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, have now complied with the 2024 National Minimum Wage Act, with many states agreeing to pay above N70,000 starting point with Lagos and Rivers States offering the highest pay with N85,000.
