Abiola-Onijemo road
Lagos State Government says the Abiola-Onijemo road with bridge project is 63 per cent completed and expected to be delivered by the end of May 2024.
The state government noted that contractors had completed piling works, stressing that the piers and pier caps as well as the abutment walls were also completed.
Somide said that with the final launch and installation of the precast beam/girders which had been done, the project was moving closer toward completion.
The Permanent Secretary in the state’s Office of Infrastructure, Mr Ayodele Somide, gave the assurance during an inspection tour of the project, according to a statement.
Somide said that the project, when completed, would connect Ifako-Ijaiye and Ojodu local government areas.
According to him, the project is part of the government’s THEMES+ Agenda, focusing on transportation infrastructure.
The permanent secretary said that the project, when completed, would tackle connectivity and flooding challenges, beautify the environment and create a traffic bypass.
“The road with bridge project, which was embarked upon to prevent flooding, improve the environmental status of the communities around and provide an effective by-pass to traffic gridlocks, has attained 63 per cent completion.
“The road which is a strategic link from College Road through Ajayi Street, Ogba, to Aruna/Obawole/Iju-Ishaga in Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government Area and Ojodu Local Government Area, upon completion, will improve interconnectivity of roads within the axis,’’ Somide said.
