Plateau State House of Assembly has approved the sum of Five Billion and Eight Hundred Million Naira, for the Plateau Independent Electoral Commission, PLASIEC, for the conduct of local government polls, scheduled for October 9th, 2024.

The approval followed a communication from Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, which was read at a plenary by the Speaker, Gabriel Kudangbena Dewan.

Dewan explains that the supplementary Budget became necessary as there was no budgetary allocation for the local government elected in 2024 Budget.

Sponsor of the Bill, Joseph Bukar, while soliciting support of members for the speedy passage, says PLASIEC was running out of time in preparation for the election.

On his part, the member representing Langtang North, Daniel Nanbol called for a critical review and deliberations from members on the Budget before approval.
