Nigeria-based Malaysian Company, Bionas, has kicked off a $2.5billion investment in Nigeria through the production of bio-fuel and waste-to-energy by selecting Nigeria as clean energy hub to other African countries.

The Group Chief Executive Officer of Bionass worldwide, Ms Zurina Amnan, stated this in Abuja over the weekend while addressing newsmen on the benefits of Jatropha Value Chain.

Bionass which is partnering with the federal government through the Ministry of Environment to drive the Jatropha Value Chain, is active in 52 countries.

Amnan who is also the Secretary of Malaysia member committee of the World Energy Council said that Bionass commenced investment in Nigeria’s waste-to-energy since this year.

She noted that Bionass is in Nigeria to offer technology transfer to Nigerians through train-the-trainers programme which she believed would produce competent professionals that would handle the Jatropha value chain.

According to her, “We want to produce 200, 000 professional engineers that will implement the programme in other African countries because they will be sent as expatriates to those countries.

Amnan revealed that their products cut across shipping, transport, aviation among others, stressing that Jatropha factory, machineries and processing machines which are already in Zaria would be installed before the end of this month.

She noted that for effective Jatropha plantation programme, Bionass needed to install the machines to boost farmers confidence .

Amnan also said expatriates from Malaysia would train Nigerians on Jatropha Agro-politan business clusters adding that the company would create a new town in Zaria named Agro-politan business clusters.

While assuring that stakeholders engaged in the value chain would make profit in their investment, she insisted that Bionass would be launching Jatropha processing plant in Zaria by December.
