
Bauchi State Police Command has launched an investigation into the death of a 24-year-old woman, reportedly beaten to death by her 50-year-old husband during a disagreement over Ramadan meal preparations.
According to a statement by the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Ahmed Wakili, the incident happened on Saturday March 1, 2025 around 11.30pm in the Fadamam Mada area, near Government Girls College, Bauchi.
The suspect, Alhaji Nuru Isah, a business man at Bauchi Central Market, allegedly attacked his wife Wasila Abdullahi following a heated argument over food ingredients and fruits meant for breaking their fast.
The situation escalated, and Isah reportedly struck Wasila with cane, causing her to collapse.
She was rushed to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi, where the doctors confirmed her death.
The police have arrested the suspect and recovered the cane used in the assault.
The victim’s body has been deposited in the mortuary, awaiting an autopsy.
The Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, CP Awwal Musa Muhammad, assured the public that justice will be served.
He also condemned domestic violence, urging the community to promote respect and understanding in family life.
The police further encouraged residents to report domestic abuse cases, emphasizing that violence within the home carries serious legal consequences.
