Resident of Ijebu Odo, Ogun State, were shocked on Saturday to find the iconic golden Agemo statue at Mafowoku round about removed — and and man lying lifeless beside it.
The statue, which has stood for 21 years along Folagbade Road, was reportedly targeted by an unidentified man believed to be attempting to steal it.
A local resident, who claimed anonimity confirmed the incident, saying, “It happened right in front of my house. people gathered early in the morning, and when I came out, the statue was gone, and the man believed to have removed it was dead on the ground”.
Sources say the body has been taken to the mortuary.
