ASABA, Delta State – A motorist reportedly cheated death on Monday after his vehicle was torn into two in a horrific road crash along the busy Ogwashi-Uku–Asaba Expressway, leaving eyewitnesses in shock.

According to reports circulating from the scene, the vehicle was travelling at speed when it was involved in the devastating crash. The impact was so severe that the car split into two separate sections, with debris scattered across the roadway.

Despite the terrifying nature of the accident, the driver was said to have survived, a development many eyewitnesses described as nothing short of miraculous. His condition, however, could not be independently verified at the time of filing this report.

Videos and photographs from the crash scene, now circulating on social media, show the mangled remains of the vehicle as residents and other motorists gathered to assist before emergency responders arrived.

The exact cause of the accident has not yet been officially confirmed. However, road safety experts have consistently identified excessive speed, dangerous overtaking, driver fatigue and mechanical failure as some of the leading causes of fatal crashes on Nigerian highways.

Authorities are yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident, including the identity of the survivor and whether any other persons were involved.

The Ogwashi-Uku–Asaba Expressway has witnessed several road traffic incidents in recent years, prompting repeated calls for motorists to obey speed limits, avoid reckless driving and ensure their vehicles are roadworthy before embarking on journeys.

Motorists using the route have also been advised to remain cautious, particularly during periods of heavy traffic and poor visibility.

9News Nigeria will provide further updates as more verified information becomes available.
