In Bauchi State, thousands of faithfuls have attended the annual Maulud celebration in the state.
The event, which attracted devotees from within the state and beyond took place at Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium on Sunday.
It was led by the renowned Islamic scholar, Sheik Dahiru Usman Bauchi who also launched a book about his life and teachings, written by Fatihi Dahiru Usman.
The celebration featured various activities, including prayers, lectures, and cultural performances.
It was attended by dignitaries from across the state and the country at large including state governors, senators, traditional rulers and other top dignitaries.
Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, who was represented by his deputy, Hon. Auwal Muhammad Jatau, commended the organizers for their efforts in promoting peace and unity through the celebration.
He said that Governor Mohammed was unable to attend the event due to a prior commitment in Edo State.
Jatau also praised the devotees for their dedication to their faith.
Also, the deputy governor announced his principal’s donation of N10m to the event organizers.
In his remarks, Sheik Dahiru expressed gratitude to the governor and the people of Bauchi State for their support.
Also at the occasion, the state’s commissioner for Religious Affairs, Yakubu Ibrahim Hamza expressed optimism and praised the organizing team for their effort.
In his remarks, Hamza noted that Maulud celebration is an annual event that commemorates the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.).
He explained the significance of the occasion in the Islamic calendar, adding that it is celebrated by Muslims across the world.
