On Friday, the Nigerian Ambassador to Ireland Her Excellency Amb Ijeoma Ariamanwa Obiezu paid an official visit to the Ireland President His Excellency, Michael Higgins at the Presidential Residence “Áras an Uachtaráin.
During a courtesy call to President Higgins, the NIGERIAN Female Ambassador presented letters on the readiness of NIGERIA in strengthening and advancing the existing cordial relations between the two countries especially in the areas of trade and investment.
9News Nigeria (Ireland) reports that Ambassador Arimanwa emphasized on the need for more focus to be on bilateral corporation rather than a multilateral approach for an enhanced relation.
Consequently, she requested that a formal agreement be entered into between Nigerian and Ireland on MOUs where both countries will have mutual interest.
While responding, the Ireland president commended President Mohammadu Buhari for delving into the global best practices of giving women an opportunity to showcase their God-endowed potentials in the national assignments.
President Higgins went down the memory lane of the post early independence relations between Ireland and Nigerian and pledged his support to the success of Amb Ijeoma’s assignment in Ireland.
Highlights of the visit was a dinner at the residence of the Nigerian Ambassador to Ireland in commemoration of the epoch-making event.
Dignitaries present at the dinner are too numerous to mention.
9News Nigeria spotted the presence of the Dean of Diplomatic corps; Arch Bishop Jude Okoro, the African Dean of the Diplomatic corps; the Moroccan Ambassador, the South African Ambassador, the Kenyan Ambassador, the Chief of Protocol, Department of Foreign Affairs and some officials of the Protocol division, the NIDO/ Nigerian community in Ireland.
