Mike Tyson Dismisses Retirement Rumors After Loss to Jake Paul

American Boxing icon, Mike Tyson has ruled out retirement following his loss to YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul in an eight-round bout decided by unanimous decision.

The match, held on 16 November, 2024, showcased Paul’s dominance as he outpaced the former heavyweight champion with superior stats and strategy.

Despite the defeat, Tyson, who is now 58, praised Paul’s preparation and performance.

“I didn’t prove anything to anyone, just to myself,” Tyson admitted during a post-fight interview, reflecting on his return to the ring.

Wearing a knee brace during the fight, Tyson also refused to use it as a reason for his performance.

“I can’t use that as an excuse,” he stated, acknowledging his opponent’s impressive showing.

The final statistics highlighted the disparity between the fighters, with Tyson landing just 18 of 97 punches compared to Paul’s 78 out of 278.

The numbers showed that Paul had a superior conditioning and tactical approach throughout the contest.

When asked about his future in boxing, Tyson dismissed the idea of retirement, confidently replying, “I don’t think so.”

His response might suggest that he remains eager to continue competing, despite the outcome of the match.
