The Nigeria’s national power grid has experienced yet another collapse, marking the 12th occurrence this year.
A review of the Independent System Operators (ISO) website, a subsidiary of the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, revealed that all power plants connected to the grid ceased production as of 2.pm in Wednesday 11th December 2024.
This comes after generating an average of 3,087 megawatts of electricity just an hour earlier, at 1.pm.
The Jos Electricity Distribution Company (Jos Disco) confirmed the grid failure in a statement, attributing the widespread outage to collapse.
“The current outage being experience across our franchise states is due to a loss of power supply from the national grid”, the statement read.
“The grid supply disruption occurred at approximately 1.33pm today, Wednesday, December 11, 2024, resulting in power outages across all our feeders.
“We are working to restore normal power supply to our esteemed customers as soon as the grid stabilizes.
“Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue striving to serve you better”
Efforts are ongoing to address they situation and restore electricity nationwide.
