The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has advised mobile phone users across the country to take proactive steps in safeguarding their personal data against unauthorized access and cyber threats.
In a recent advisory issued to consumers, the NCC emphasized the importance of regularly changing passwords and turning off mobile hotspots when not in use.
These simple but effective measures, the Commission noted, can significantly reduce the risk of data breaches and identity theft.
“Secure your data! Prevent unauthorized access by changing your password and turning off your mobile hotspot regularly,” the advisory read.
The Commission also directed consumers to its dedicated portal — https://consumer.ncc.gov.ng for more useful tips on digital safety, cyber hygiene, and best practices for protecting personal information online.
