The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a Lagos-based socialite, and luxury-goods businessman Afolabi Kazeem Michael, popularly known as KC Luxury, over his alleged role in an international cocaine trafficking network.
The arrest followed the seizure of 184.5kg of cocaine concealed in a consignment at a courier facility in Lagos.
NDLEA Chairman Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd), on Tuesday, during a press briefing, revealed that KC Luxury was arrested alongside Lawal Kehinde, an employee of logistics company. The agency described it as the largest cocaine seizure involving a courier company in the agency’s history.
The agency said KC Luxury was found with expensive jewellery, N100,000, £2,800 and €7,750, adding that exotic vehicles were discovered at his apartment in Banana Island.
Marwa said the suspect was arrested at the boarding gate of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA) Lagos, on August 13, 2026, after intelligence indicated that he was preparing to leave Nigeria on a business-class flight to Paris.
“This cartel leader did not work into our custody voluntarily, he intended to flee the country on a business class flight to Paris. Our operatives apprehended him at the boarding gate of Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, just as he attempted to escape the reach of the law”, the NDLEA boss stated.
NDLEA said the investigation is continuing to identify other people allegedly involved in the trafficking network. Marwa also said suspected members of the same network had been arrested by authorities in the United Kingdom.
