

President John Mahama of Ghana has invited the military led government of Niger, Burkina Faso and Mali to the 50th anniversary launch of the Economic Community of West African State (ECOWAS) in Accra, Ghana.
The event will take place on April 22, 2025.
The invitation is a gesture of reconciliation, aimed at bridging decisions and restoring dialogue with the three Sahel nation’s, who recently announced their withdrawal from the regional bloc to form the Alliance of Sahel States (AES).
The launch mark a historic moment for the bloc, which was established over 45 years ago to promote economic integration and political cooperation across West Africa.
