The central bank of Nigeria (CBN) have alerted staff over security risk across Nigeria while frowning at the consistent attacks launched by bandits at Government facilities and the kidnap of more than 700 school children since December last year till date.
The bank (CBN) has therefore warned its staff to take necessary precautions and be security conscious, as the security situation across the country deteriorates.
The CBN in a memorandum circulated to its staff and obtained by the press said “security intelligence reports have informed of plan by undesirable elements to infiltrate various parts of the country, particularly, state capitals and the FCT with the intention to perpetrate crimes of abduction and kidnapping for ransom or as recruits for terrorism.”
The bank said the activities are likely to be carried out in the evenings and at night and also highlighted security tips that staff should follow.
However, Kidnapping for ransom has become rampant in many parts of Nigeria and high-earning staff of the Central Bank could be targeted for abduction by criminals.
Already, mass kidnapping of students from their school has become rife in northern states of Kaduna, Katsina, Niger, Zamfara, Benue and Plateau.
Nigerian security forces are hopefully putting their possible best to stamp down the havoc while NIGERIANS are adviced to be very vigilant to report any suspected movement around and within their neighborhood to relevant agencies.
Bankers be warned to be more vigilant as the security risks goes high all over the country.
