The Federal Republic of Nigeria has congratulated the Republic of Algeria on the occasion of its 71st Revolution Day Anniversary, reaffirming the long-standing friendship and cooperation between both countries.
According to a press release made available to 9News Nigeria, and signed by Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, anipr, Spokesperson, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abuja, on Saturday, November 1, 2025, the message was conveyed by the Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, to his Algerian counterpart, His Excellency Ahmed Attaf, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Algeria.
In the statement, Ambassador Tuggar extended “warmest congratulations and fraternal greetings” to the Government and people of Algeria, describing the commemoration as “a momentous occasion marking the courage and resilience of the Algerian people.”
“This historic day, commemorating the start of the valiant struggle for independence, stands as a powerful testament to the resilience, courage, and unwavering spirit of the Algerian people,” the statement read. “The sacrifices made during the Algerian War of Independence continue to be a profound inspiration to liberation movements across Africa and the world, symbolizing an unyielding quest for self-determination and freedom.”
The Minister emphasized that the bond between Nigeria and Algeria is rooted in shared history, mutual respect, and a common vision for a peaceful and prosperous Africa. He noted that both nations, as key players on the continent, continue to strengthen cooperation through the African Union and other multilateral institutions in advancing sustainable development and stability.
“Nigeria highly values the strong bilateral relations existing between our two countries and remains committed to deepening this collaboration across various sectors, including trade, energy, security, and cultural exchange, for the mutual benefit of our peoples,” the statement added.
It further highlighted the recent commencement of direct commercial flights between Abuja and Algiers as a significant milestone in promoting closer economic and diplomatic ties.
As Algeria celebrates its Revolution Day, Nigeria expresses solidarity with the Algerian people in honouring their national heroes and reaffirms its commitment to continued partnership and shared progress.
“The Federal Republic of Nigeria wishes the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria a joyous celebration and enduring peace and prosperity,” the statement concluded.
