Arise Television anchor Rufai Oseni became emotional during the network’s programme as he reflected on Nigeria’s current economic challenges.
Speaking on the programme on Friday, Oseni expressed deep concern over the nation’s economic trajectory, contrasting its present realities with its financial standing in the 1970s while shedding tears.
According to him, Nigeria was in such a strong economic position that in December 1974, it was lending millions of dollars to the World Bank, while in 1975, it also extended financial support to the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
He lamented that the country’s fortunes have since declined significantly, urging Nigerians to reflect on how a nation that once served as a creditor to major global financial institutions has become heavily reliant on borrowing.
