Nigerian Army scuttles plans to bomb communities in Imo State

A Nigerian Army troop conducting Exercise Golden Dawn Section 3 in the South-East has uncovered and detonated some Improvised Explosive Device IED allegedly planted by members of Indigenous People of Biafra – IPOB around the vicinity of Mgbidi and Awo Mmamma in Oru East local Government Area of Imo State.

According to a Press Statement of the Nigerian Army Headquarters signed by the Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Army high command said the IED “planted by IPOB” was
to bomb the above communities because residents refused to observe the illegal sit-at-home order foisted on them on Monday 6 November 2021.

Pictures obtained by 9News Nigeria from the Nigerian Army Headquarters show diffused IEDs and some sections of the road damaged by explosive which intention was to leave Mgbidi and Awo Mmamma with much casualties.

The Press Statement further said while they are on manhunt of the terrorists who are on the run, they have taken possession of their two Sienna buses and a Toyota Hilux they (terrorists) have abandoned.

Explosive recovered are: Four wraps of unexploded ordnances, one motor cycle battery, two vehicle alarm devices, one detonator, wires and batteries.
