The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) is urging the Federal Government to simplify the country’s curriculum in 2025.

According to Dr. Mike Ike-Ene, the Secretary-General of NUT, the current curriculum is outdated, too rigid, and focuses too much on preparing students for white-collar jobs.

Instead, Ike-Ene, believes the curriculum should prioritize making students productive, employment, and equipped with practical skills for modern economy.

The NUT also emphasized the need for more balanced approach to education, one that empowers students to become employers rather than just employees highlighting the importance of renovating government-owned schools, establishing more structures, and increasing the education budgetary allocation.
