
A retired headmistress, Mrs. Omowumi Bello collapsed and died during her retirement ceremony in Osun State.
The tragic incident occurred on April 9, 2025 at the School for the Physically Challenged, Enu Odi, Ilesa.
It was gathered that Bello, revered by colleagues and students for her dedication and hard work, had recently concluded a long and distinguished career in education and the ceremony was intended to honour her meritorious years of service.
Sources revealed that she had just stepped down from her role as headmistress, where she had devoted herself to her students with unwavering passion.
Eyewitness revealed that Mrs. Bello arrived at the venue in high spirits, participating in a musical procession led by drummers.
“She was smiling and dancing. Everyone was filled with joy, no one anticipated what would happen next.
“Shortly after taking her seat at the high table with her husband, Mrs Bello began to exhibit signs of distress just minutes.
“She looked fatigued as she was struggling to breathe, people rushed to assist her.
“First aid was administered on her, but as her condition worsened. She was swiftly transported to the nearby Ijeshaland Geriatric Center, medical staff there referred her to Westley Guild Hospital in Ilesa, where she was pronounces dead on arrival”.
